Faith in Action: Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church’s Outreach Programs

At Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church, outreach is at the heart of our mission. We are passionate about serving our community in meaningful ways, addressing needs such as food insecurity, personal growth, and supportive guidance. Throughout the year, we actively give back by partnering with local organizations to help them achieve their goals. Some of the organizations we have supported include Bottomless Toy Chest, Teen Clean Closet, and Living Water Ministries. Within our church, we proudly operate the Beacon of Hope Food Pantry, which provides drive-thru food distribution of fresh fruits, vegetables, and essential groceries every fourth Saturday—adjusted to the third Saturday in November and December. Additionally, our Blessing Box, located on the east side of the building next to the electronic sign, is available 24/7 with non-perishable food items for anyone in need.

Our commitment to outreach extends beyond food assistance. As an environmentally conscious church, we prioritize recycling and sustainability efforts to reduce waste. Each summer, we host Music on the Lawn, offering free live music and food for the community during the months of June, July, and August. Every month with a fifth Sunday, we dedicate Reach Out Sunday to serving a selected organization through donations and volunteer efforts. We also engage with the community through events like participating in the Clawson Fourth of July Parade, where we distribute refreshments, and hosting a Living Nativity in December, featuring live actors, animals, interactive activities, and warm refreshments. These are just a few of the ways we strive to make a positive impact, and we continue to seek new opportunities to serve and uplift our neighbors.

Beacon of Hope Food Pantry
Once a month distribution

The Beacon of Hope Food Pantry is located within Spirit of Christ Lutheran Church. Our drive-thru style pantry opens its doors on the 4th Saturday of every month, with a special exception in November and December when the distribution shifts to the third Saturday. Operating on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 a.m. to Noon, we offer a bounty of fresh food to anyone in need—no special requirements, no appointments, just a community united in the spirit of compassion. Please note that food cannot be held, and the church office has no additional information beyond the generosity we share on distribution day. Join us in spreading hope, one meal at a time.

Volunteers are always much appreciated.
